Hello, Conner Street Families. Just a few items on today’s call out. Parent Teacher Conferences are this coming Thursday from 5:00 – 7:00. For the most part, teachers have already scheduled most of the time slots. If you would like a meeting and do not have one, please contact your child’s teacher. There is no school for students on Friday, October 13th. Our boxed lunches were a big hit this week. This Tuesday we will have Chef Salad w/ crackers and applesauce. Halloween Parties on Friday, October 27th. More information will be coming in next week’s call out. Finally, we are having quite a few issues with different beverages being brought into the school/classrooms. Outside drinks in the morning, such as Dunkin, Starbucks, McDonalds, etc. need to be finished quickly in the cafeteria. Also, students should only be bringing water into the classrooms. Most teachers do not allow Prime, or any other flavored waters.

Hello, Conner Street Families. Our Readathon has now ended, and we profited approximately $2000. If your child has earned any Readathon prizes, you will need to log into your child’s account and choose the rewards within the next 10 days. Those items will be shipped to Conner Street. Your students will soon be having iReady data chats with their teachers, at this meeting they will discuss their year end goals and how they plan to achieve those goals. Meeting these goals earns rewards at the end of year party. These data sheets will be coming home for you to review with your child, sign and return. Monday and Tuesday, PreK-2nd grade will be participating in Fire Safety activities with the Hurricane Fire Department. We had no applicants for our Archery position, it will be reposted. If we do not have any certified applicants to apply, we will not have the program this year. The October menu has been posted, and next week we will start the “lunchable” options. The new option will be offered first come first serve in each lunch group, and if the need increases, more “lunchables” will be made in future weeks. Students selecting the “lunchable” option, will not visit the salad bar, as their required lunch components will all be in the container. School pictures are October 4th. Have a great weekend!

Hello, Conner Street Families. I will apologize in advance, because we have a ton of information on our call out this week. Our Read-a-thon is still going through September 29th. As of now, we have raised approximately $2000. We would love to increase this amount over this final week, because we will need to purchase mulch and other items for our new soon-to-arrive playground equipment. Parents – please have your child ready to exit the vehicle when pulling into the drop off line. I understand wanting to get that last minute hug and kiss, but please do that before the staff member arrives to open the door. This is greatly delaying our drop off procedure. Our Archery club sponsor has resigned, if you are interested in serving as our archery sponsor please let me know. You do have to take a certification course, CPR, AED and First Aid Classes, and complete a background check. We have several students that have not turned in bus cards, those are crucial in the event of an emergency or bus incident. Please get those turned in ASAP. We have had an increase in physical behaviors lately, this will NOT be tolerated. Please address the hands-off policy with your child. The October menu will be posted next week, and we will be offering a new lunch option. Twice a week, students will have a choice between the hot lunch and a “lunchable” type offering.

Our Read-a-thon is still going through September 29th. As of now, we have raised approximately $1500. We do only have 91 students that have created accounts. Even if you don’t plan on fundraising, please create an account so the teachers can track the minutes the students are reading in class. Our School is also running a community service project for the animal shelter. See flyers and our Facebook post for more information. Tuesday, September 19th is our Family Night which is an RSVP event and registration is now closed. However, at 7:00 there is a PTB meeting open to all, with LSIC to follow. Friday, September 22nd will be our first monthly Hat Day. Students bring $1 to wear a hat. Proceeds this month will go towards the 5th grade celebration. Just a reminder school starts at 7:30, several of our parents are arriving after this time. Being on time for school sets your child up for a successful day and helps to eliminate some of the morning stress. Have a great weekend!

Hello, Conner Street Families. We have a few announcements on today’s call out. Conner Street will be hosting a family night on Tuesday, September 19th from 6:00 – 7:00 pm. Please see the form your child brought home, Schoology, or the Facebook page to register. Class shirt order forms were sent home, those are due by September 8th. Popcorn pass purchases are also due by September 8th, which is our first Popcorn Friday of the year. If you have not turned in your PTB Volunteer information form, please do so ASAP. Several parents have inquired about donating to the Coffee Cart project for Ms. Custer’s class. I am reposting that list on Schoology and the PTB Facebook page. We plan to start the cart this coming week. Our third annual Read-a-Thon is coming soon, letters were sent home today. Last year we raised around $6,000. We would love to surpass that goal this year. Proceeds will be going toward playground maintenance. Finally, there is no school for students on Monday, due to Labor Day. Have a great weekend!

Hello, Conner Street Families. We made it through the first couple days of the school year, and they were a blast. Thank you to all our parents that were so patient during the monsoon this morning. Also, a big thank you to all our parents that arrived with their students on time. We know the last two mornings have been chaotic, but that should improve next week. Our Pre-K students do start on Tuesday, so please be mindful of those parents walking through the crosswalk. Pre-K Parents must park and walk their child to the entrance. Use the crosswalk provided. School dismisses at 2:30, bus students are loaded first, then car pick-up and then walkers. There is a PTB meeting next Tuesday at 7:00 pm, all are welcome. Class t-shirts also go on sale next week, order forms will be coming home. Finally, our online school spirit wear store is open. There is a huge sale going on now through 9/14. Have a great weekend!

Hello, Conner Street Families. Well, tomorrow is the big day. The first day of school for grades K-5 for the 2023-2024 school year. We have several things to review, but I will try to go quickly. Doors open at 7:10, you are more than welcome to line-up before then but please do not let your children out of the car until adults are ready to receive them. Last year, we did have a few issues with unattended children prior to 7:10. School begins at 7:30. For the next few days we will stay out front longer if needed. Please make sure to go through our drop-off line, do not drop-off students in the middle of the road or the back of the parking lot. Please do not exit your cars, we will take care of assisting your students out of the vehicle and into the building. School dismisses at 2:30, bus students are loaded first, then car pick-up and then walkers. There will be several forms coming home tomorrow, please complete those as quickly as possible. A few of those forms have been made available online this year, but if you need a paper copy, please notify your child’s teacher. It is not required to complete the Free and Reduced lunch form; however, a lot of school funding comes from this information. Please do not be afraid to fill out that form online, just to see if you qualify. See you in the morning!

Good afternoon, Conner Street Families. Open House will be held Tuesday, August 22nd from 4:00 – 6:00 pm. Parking is limited, so please park at Forrest Burdette and walk over with your family. Make sure to take plenty of pictures at Open House, because parents need to remain in their cars in the drop-off line on the first day of school. This will ensure student safety, as well as make our line move more efficiently. Class Lists will be posted today as of 5:00 pm. Grades 3-5 will rotate through all teachers and are assigned homeroom for attendance purposes. It is too late for teacher requests. Please DO NOT take photos of the lists and post to social media. Updates to Drop-Off Procedures and Pick-up Procedures – Our Drop-off and Pick-up Routes are the same as last year. I do know that some of our veteran parents chose an alternate route at times, for the first two weeks PLEASE follow the directed route to help our new parents. The only changes to Drop-off and Pick-up Procedures are as follows: For Drop-off – School does start at 7:30, the staff monitoring the front of the building will begin entering the school at that time. Anyone arriving after staff is inside the building, will need to park and escort their child to the front door. Anyone arriving after 7:40, will need to enter the building to sign in their student as tardy. All tardy students need to complete food/drink items from outside sources, before entering the classroom. Breakfast is available here at Conner Street until 7:55. For Pick-Up, all bus students AND car pick-up line students will be loaded, prior to walkers or walker pick-ups. As always, have a great weekend.

Open House will be held Tuesday, August 22nd from 4:00 – 6:00 pm. Parking is limited, so please park at Forrest Burdette and walk over with your family. Simply mention Conner Street when placing an order. Proceeds will go toward our 5th grade celebration. Class lists will be posted at 4:00 pm on August 18th. Please DO NOT take photos of the lists and post to social media. 5/19/2023 – Call-Out Good evening, Conner Street Families – I apologize in advance, because we have a lot on the call out this week. All the information is also on Schoology, the school webpage, and Facebook. The local churches have reached out and asked us to sponsor a food drive to help replenish the pantry for the summer months. We are going to do this next week when we will have several parents in and out of the building. We will have two new large trash receptacles out in front of the building for anyone to drop off nonperishable items. These will be rolled inside each evening. Please feel free to participate. We have had several instances lately with students watching TikToks at home that have inappropriate conduct, and then bringing these “songs” and “challenges” into the school. Many of these students do not even understand the inappropriateness of what they are watching. Please address this with your students. TikTok challenges and songs are not welcome in the school setting. Offenses of inappropriateness will result in disciplinary action. We have also had an increase in inappropriate physical behaviors. Continued inappropriate behaviors may result in a student not being able to participate in field day. iPad Collection will take place this Monday, May 22nd. Students will be turning in their iPads and their chargers. Any charger that is not turned in will result in a fee of $25. Please make checks payable to Conner Street Elementary. Field Day will be this coming Thursday. Grades K-5 will be participating from 8:30 – 11:15. We will resume from 12:45 – 1:45 for grades 3-5 ONLY. Students should wear class shirts. Families are welcome; however, we ask that you park at Forrest Burdette. The side gate will only be open until 8:00 am. Anyone arriving after this time will need to buzz through the front door and sign-in. If you plan on bringing coolers and/or tents, please arrive prior to 8:00 am. DO NOT block the bus or parent drop off loops to unload. At the end of the day, please make sure to clean up all trash around your tent areas. We will not be accepting food deliveries that day. If you plan to leave for lunch and take your child with you, the child MUST be signed out, and then back in upon return. May 23rd – AR Party May 24th – 5th Grade Step-up Day and 3rd grade Field Trip May 25th – Field Day during the day, 5th grade celebration at 6:00 pm at Forrest Burdette May 26th – 5th Grade Trip May 29th – No School, Memorial Day May 31st – 3 Hour early out, Last Day Have a great weekend!

4/28/2023 – Call-Out Good afternoon, Conner Street Families – We have finished up our i-Ready Diagnostics and the vast majority of our students showed HUGE growth. We are so proud of them! After school tutoring for the year, also finished up this week. This coming week is Teacher Appreciation Week. Our PTB has posted a link on the Facebook page asking for volunteers to bring certain items. If you are interested in doing so, please find that on the Conner Street Elementary PTB Facebook. The week of May 8th is testing for grades 3 – 5. Please try to rearrange any scheduled doctors’ appointments, so that your child can be here to test. Additionally, please try to ensure that your student arrives to school on time. We will begin testing by 8:00 am each morning, and the test is untimed. 4/20/2023 – Call-Out Good afternoon, Conner Street Families – Monday, April 24th – our 4th and 5th graders will be having a guest speaker to discuss Cyber Safety, the Dangers of Social Media and Cyber Bullying. Next week, Ms. Audra will be teaching lessons concerning body safety. More information can be found on Schoology, or you can call Ms. Audra at extension 2220 if you have questions. Friday, April 28th was a previously scheduled Popcorn Friday; however, that is the date of our i-Ready Reward party where many students will be eligible to receive popcorn. Therefore, we will not be having our REGULAR Popcorn Friday that day. Additionally, we have SO many students eligible for the party, we will be shifting from a movie to 40 minutes of extra recess, so that we can divide into two different groups, K-2 and 3-5. Trust me, most of the kids are excited about this and not disappointed that it is not a movie. Obviously if we have weather issues that day, we will have to make changes. Any student not eligible, but close to meeting their goal, will be, or already has been, given an opportunity to retest. Menu Changes – We try to post the menu each month on Schoology and the Facebook page; however, if we have delivery issues or cooks absent, we must make changes on a day-to-day basis. Sometimes this change has to be made at 6:00 am. PTB will not be having the possible 4th/5th grade dance next Friday, due to scheduling conflicts. No School tomorrow, April 21st - it is a Professional Learning Day for Staff.

Our 3rd-5th graders will be working on their last i-Ready diagnostic on Tuesday and Wednesday morning. We will be running the same schedule as when we take the state assessment in May. This will allow our students to have a practice run, and make sure that the schedule works. Please stress to your students about the importance of the diagnostic. Any students that are absent these days will make up the diagnostic when they return. April 18th is our monthly PTB meeting at 7:00. We will be having a brief LSIC meeting immediately after. April 21st – No School for students, Professional Learning Day for staff. Reminder for our 5th grade parents, final payment for students and chaperones is May 12th. Have a good weekend!
