Make sure to give us a big shout and wave if you are watching the parade. Christmas Parties will be Thursday, December 19th starting at 1:30 pm. This is a Parent Invite Party. Doors open at 1:15 for Homeroom Parents ONLY December 20th is a 3 hour early out. Christmas Break runs from December 21st – January 1st. Students return on January 2nd. Class Pictures should be here anytime, shipping showed delivery this week, but deliveries have been slow lately. The Yearbook company has promised delivery the week after Break. We have switched companies for next year and are hoping for a better experience. The deposit for the 5th grade trip was due today, if your child is still planning on attending and you did not send the deposit please do so Monday. We will be looking for volunteers and that link is posted on our Facebook page. Also, next week we will be joining with other Hurricane area elementary schools to collect funds for the Live Like Will Washburn Foundation. The homeroom class that brings in the most funds will receive a pizza party. We will present a check to the HHS senior class at the Hurricane Boys Basketball game on Friday, December 13th. All Conner Street students are invited to attend the ball game free of charge, they just need to wear their class tee shirt. Our 5th graders are also invited to join with other schools to sing the National Anthem at the ball game. Students need to be at the gym by 7:15 pm. Our 4th graders will be hosting their annual Christmas concert on Friday, December 13th at 9:30. Doors will open for parents at 9:15. Hello, Conner Street Families, here is your weekly call out. Thanksgiving Break is November 25th – 29th. We will begin our 12 Days of Christmas on Thursday, December 5th. Thursday is Spirit of the Season – Wear Red or Green and Friday is Mistle”toes” Day – Wear Christmas Socks There is a movie night on Friday, December 6th for 4th and 5th graders. Information coming home soon. Our Santa shop is the week of December 8th. We will be looking for volunteers and send that flyer home after break. Our next PTB/LSIC Meeting is Tuesday, November 19th at 7:00 pm. Thanksgiving Break is November 25th – 29th. When we return from break, we will again be celebrating the 12 days of Christmas with themed dress-up days. Those days will be announced next week. Hello, Conner Street Families, here is your weekly call out. There is no school for students on Monday, November 11th in observance of Veteran’s Day. We will be hosting a Marco’s Night on Wednesday, November 13th. Simply call and place an order at Marco’s of Hurricane, mention Conner Street, your child’s name and teacher and your pizza will come in the box designed by your child. We did this fundraiser in the spring and it was a huge success. Make-up pictures are Thursday, November 14th. We are also doing class photos on this day. The order forms have not yet arrived, they will come home as soon as we receive them. If I receive a digital copy, we will post that as soon as we receive it. Our fall book fair is November 18th – 22nd. Our next PTB/LSIC Meeting is Tuesday, November 19th at 7:00 pm. Thanksgiving Break is November 25th – 29th. Have a great weekend!

Hello, Conner Street Families, here is your weekly call out. Our 5th graders will be hosting their annual Veteran’s Day performance on the morning of November 4th. The concert is early this year, due to the 5th grade STARBASE field trip. The concert begins at 9:30 and the doors will open at 9:15. Anyone arriving after 9:30 will have to wait in the hallway until there is a break in singing to enter the cafeteria. There is no school for students on Tuesday, November 5th for Election Day. Our next movie nights are November 7th and 8th. These are for grades K-1 and 2-3. More information is coming next week. Monday – Rally in Red – Stand up to Drugs – Wear Red Tuesday – Being Drug Free Rocks – Wear your favorite band/musician shirt Wednesday – Follow your Dreams – Don’t Do Drugs – Wear your pajamas Thursday – Drugs are Scary – Wear your Halloween costume. No weapons. Masks allowed during the parade only. Costumes need to be something that students can easily put on without assistance. Friday – Team Up Against Drugs – Wear your favorite team apparel. Halloween Parties are Thursday, October 31st. Doors will open for parents at 1:15 and the parade will begin shortly thereafter, weather permitting. Parents must begin exiting at 2:00 and be completely out of the building and parking lot by 2:10. Grades PreK-2nd is 5:00 – 6:30 and grades 3-5 is 7:00 – 8:30. No weapons are allowed. Masks may be worn but must be able to be easily removed for identification purposes. School Pictures have been shipped and will arrive soon. If you are interested in seeing your student’s photos beforehand, or placing another order see our post on Facebook with directions. Hello, Conner Street Families, here is your weekly call out. Thank you to everyone who participated in our fundraiser, we were able to raise almost $4000 for our playground. We will be doing another fundraiser for the playground next month. Ms. Bird and I will be starting to work on our next grant application, but the more matching funds that we have the larger amount that we receive from the grant committee. No school for students on Friday, October 11th. It is a professional learning day for staff. The next PTB/LSIC meeting will be October 15th. We will be celebrating Unity Day on Wednesday, October 16th. Everyone wear orange. Halloween Family Fun Night is Saturday, October 19th. Admission is $5 a piece. Grades PreK-2nd is 5:00 – 6:30 and grades 3-5 is 7:00 – 8:30. If you are donating a cake, please have the cake at school Friday, October 18th. Candy is due Tuesday, October 15th. Good afternoon. Conner Street Elementary will be joining several other local elementary schools in a Kids Helping Kids Challenge. The goal of this challenge is to collect items needed to assist the communities affected by the most recent hurricane. Please send any donations to school with your child this week, or drop off in the main office. The City of Hurricane will be picking up the items from us on Friday. Please check our Facebook post for the list of needed items, as well as a list of items that are not needed at this time.

There is no school for students on Friday, September 20th. It is a professional learning day for staff. School picture day is Thursday, September 26th. Flyers were sent home earlier. Our PTB will be hosting two movie nights later in the month – Grades 2 and 3 will be Thursday the 26th and Grades 4 and 5 will be Friday the 27th. Grades K-1 will have a movie night later in the year. Information will be sent home the week of the event. Hurricane High School will be celebrating their Spirit Week next week; however, we do ours in conjunction with Red Ribbon week which is in October. The themes will be announced next month. 2024 WVGSA Student Assessment Results Available in Online Family Portal Student assessment results for the 2024 West Virginia General Summative Assessment are now available in the online Family Portal. Putnam County Schools will provide a unique access code for each student who took the WVGSA in grades 3-8. This code will allow students and their parents/guardians to access student test results by logging into the online Family Portal. We are sending this information through the student email address and the parent/guardian email address(es) on file for the student. The Family Portal will provide better access to student test results for parents/guardians. It will include detailed information about student performance in math, English language arts, and science, as well as access to Lexile and Quantile measures and the Lexile/Quantile Growth Plan. Additional resources to help explain student performance and to help parents and guardians provide support to their students will be included. To further assist parents/guardians in understanding their student’s performance on the WVGSA, in addition to the results provided in the Family Portal, an individual video score report also is available. Putnam County Schools will also provide a unique link to each student’s video report in that same email. Please look for this important email today, August 29, 2004, at 4:00pm. If parents and guardians need help in accessing the family portal or the video score report, they may contact their child’s school administrator(s). Thank you!

Hello, Conner Street Families, we have survived the first two days of school. Just a few items on today’s call. Thank you to those of you that are continuously following our drop-off procedures. For those of you using Washington Avenue, please use Shank or Seymour. The traffic on Washington, as well as parents blocking the DO NOT BLOCK area is causing our buses to be late to their next stops or schools. There is no school on September 2nd, in honor of Labor Day. Our PreK starts on Tuesday, September 3rd. Getting your student to school on time is vital for a successful day, please do your best to help your child be on time for school. Good afternoon, Conner Street Families. Just a reminder that Open House starts tonight at 4:00 pm. All of you, except for newly enrolled students, should have received a call last week with the name of your child’s teacher. I will also have a list at the front door, for those of you that did not receive the call. The link for completing forms online will be sent out on the first day of school, so we will not be able to have those stations set up this evening. If you are going to need paper copies, please let your child’s homeroom teacher know.
