Dr. Craig Spicer, President of the Putnam County Board of Education, is in his fourth term. He has a bachelor's degree in pre-medicine from Marshall University, and a Doctor of Dentistry from West Virginia University. He operates Kanawha Valley Dental in St. Albans. Married to a Putnam school administrator, Dr. Spicer is the father of two sons, students at Hurricane High School and Hurricane Middle School. Dr. Spicer is active in many professional and community organizations, including the Academy of General Dentistry, the Kanawha Valley Dental Society, the West Virginia Dental Association, and the American Dental Association. He is also an active member of the Church of the Ascension in Hurricane. Much of Dr. Spicer's free time is devoted to working with young people, especially coaching youth basketball. Dr. Spicer is committed to bringing quality education to the students in Putnam County Schools.

Rob Cunningham, a 1987 graduate of Winfield High School, holds a Bachelor’s of Business Administration (BBA) Degree in Finance and Business Law and an Associate’s Degree in Police Science from Marshall University.  While attending Marshall, Mr. Cunningham was a three year letterman in football.  He is a twenty plus year veteran of state and federal law enforcement and has been the recipient of numerous national level awards for bravery and selfless public service.   Mr. Cunningham is active in community organizations and in youth sports programs as an administrator and coach.  Currently, Mr. Cunningham is the President of the Mountain State Elite Cheer & Football League, as well as the President of the Winfield Midget League Football League.

Bruce Knell

Bruce Knell graduated from Poca High School in 1971. He received his Bachelor of Science from West Virginia State College in 1975. He graduated with a Master of Science degree in Secondary Education from Marshall in 1984 and earned an additional 45 graduate credit hours. Bruce has 40 years experience teaching in the Putnam County School System. He served as a coach and athletic trainer for 35 years.

William "Butch" Legg is an employee of Rhone Poulenc/Aventis. He resides in Poca with his wife Sue, who is a former service person for Putnam County Schools. He has three children, all of whom went through Putnam County Schools, one of whom is a former Putnam County teacher. Mr. Legg is in his third term on the Board of Education.

Dr. Sam P. Sentelle served as Superintendent of Putnam County Schools from 1989 through 2003-2004. Prior to his service in Putnam County, Dr. Sentelle was Superintendent of Logan County Schools and an assistant superintendent in Richmond, Virginia. A graduate of the University of Tennessee, Dr. Sentelle is an accomplished orator and thespian. He serves on numerous civic boards in Putnam County.
